Vivi Vassileva truly vibrates within the rhythm of the modern day – European music critics describe her as “not only technically perfect, but always capturing the audience‘s imagination in her exploration of the impossible”. She is definitely one of the leading percussionists of her generation, leader of “The Percussive Planet” series at Vienna’s Konzerthaus, she will be performing in Varna just before her appearance at the prestigious Schleswig-Holstein Festival. Her program for the “Varna Summer” spans from Bach and Vivaldi to Piazzolla and even closer to our time by the pieces of Avner Dorman—a highly successful contemporary composer with a rich and complex rhythmic vocabulary; many of his compositions have become contemporary staples in the repertoire. Dorman’s music is championed by conductors including Zubin Mehta, Christoph Eschenbach, Riccardo Chailly and Andris Nelsons and by soloists such as Gil Shaham and Hilary Hahn.
Vivi Vassileva’s partners in her musical adventures are the Brazilian guitarist Lucas Campara Diniz, winner of several international guitar competitions such as “Av Rio”, “Sebastian Benda” and “Fred Schneiter”, with whom she performs frequently at major European concert halls, and the violinist Dimitar Burov. His musical path began in Varna and led him to London, where he has been living, performing and teaching for many years.
